How do I add additional domains to my hosting account?

Adding additional domains to an existing hosting account is quite easy.  First, you need to decide how you want to add the domain.  There are 2 options:

  1. Addon Domains  – This essentially creates a second website under your current one.  This is accessible by the new domain name only and will not show up under your ‘main’ domain name unless you link to it.
    • To create an addon domain, open up cPanel and scroll to the Domains Section of the control panel.  Click on Addon Domains.  Type the domain name you wish to addon to your existing account and setup a username, password, and directory for it to go to.  The username and password is for FTP use and will not work to login to cPanel.
  2. Parked Domains – A parked domain is a domain on-top of your current one.  For example, your main domain is ‘example.com’.  A parked domain example is ‘parked.com’.  When you create a parked domain, it shows the same website for both.  When you visit parked.com, it is identical to example.com.
    • To create a parked domain is very similar to the addon domain.  Simply login to cPanel and scroll to the Domains Section of the control panel.  Click on Parked Domains.  Type the domain name you wish to park on-top your current account, as well as the account to park it on (if you have subdomains).
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Issue: I cannot add a parked or addon domain.
Answer:You do not have the nameservers setup correctly.  They should be setup to the same as your main account.  Refer to the email you received that has your hosting information enclosed (you would’ve recieved this upon signup).

Issue: My emails are not forwarding on my new parked domain.
Answer: You need to setup a domain forwarder. Refer to this article for instructions.
